André Firmiano is a man of many media. Ink, paint, digital, and more recently spray paint, you name it and he uses it. The São Paolo artist has never met a medium that he didn’t like. And judging from his work the media like him back. All of his pieces, chaotic as they are individually, all seem to fit together well as a whole because no matter the material, Firmiano’s style is solid. He says that he wants his work to make people reflect on the role of the individual in society as well as the role of societies themselves. It’s no easy task to create symbolism that is both introspective and global at the same time, but Firmiano shines in this area. São Paolo is coming up in the world as a new center of art and culture and it looks like they’ll have no trouble fitting in if André Firmiano is characteristic of the talent they’re producing.
